GreyStar’s Background
GreyStar was founded on February 1, 1995. The company currently manages a range of domestic energy related assets located throughout North America. These include several oil and gas production operations, offshore, in the Gulf of Mexico, and a variety of onshore hydrocarbon processing facilities in the key energy producing regions. GreyStar is an important operations and maintenance contractor associated with both liquids and gas pipelines, along with gathering systems and receiving terminals.
In addition to its extensive North American operations, GreyStar has established a significant presence in Libya, Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina, among many other international locations. The company’s international portfolio includes projects ranging from the operation and maintenance (O&M) of 225,000+ barrel a day oil producing fields, to the O&M of electric power generation plants, to the O&M of floating production/storage/offloading vessels.
GreyStar undertook its first large project in 1996, when Tenneco awarded the company a contract for the operation and maintenance of its Gulf of Mexico offshore and inland waters’ pipeline system.
In 1998, GreyStar received its first major international contract award, when Conoco chose the company to operate and maintain the Petrozuata power generation facilities in Venezuela. This led to the formation of GreyStar’s Latin American venture company, OGS, and the development of many more project assignments with energy companies such as Chevron, Repsol, Total, PDVSA, Petrobras, and others.
GreyStar continued to grow, and in 1999, Shell awarded the Nakika Project “Operational Readiness Study” to the company, which was significant because it was the company’s first foray into deepwater mega projects, and it provided an entrée into other world class opportunities.
More recently, in 2006, GreyStar was chosen by Eni Gas to provide the maintenance management for its Sabratha producing facilities, offshore Libya, in the Mediterranean. This project has since led to other assignments in North Africa. Today, GreyStar is in a position to effectively provide asset management related services in any geographic location around the world, regardless of remoteness or complexity
